Hello *
I am Maddy. I’m an avid lover of being outside, moving my body, eating well and encouraging others to live their healthiest life by doing the same.
The majority of my time is taken up by my work as a doctor at one of Australia’s busiest Emergency Departments. My job is challenging, inspiring, overwhelming and fulfilling - often all in one day!
I first started running as a way to fill in my spare time and spend my spare money.
However, the more that I dedicated to the sport, the more I realised that I needed it as a way to process life and all of its challenges - both the day-to-day hardships - and the big stuff.
Running - specifically trail running - has allowed me to learn to celebrate my body for what it can do, rather than punish it for not looking a certain way.
It has forced me to re-frame certain schemas that I developed in childhood about my worth, success and the space that I take up in this world.
It allows me to practice everyday the belief that the option to choose our suffering is one of the greatest gifts of life.
I am so grateful for how running (alongside the people that I meet in my “real” job) has shaped who I am as a person. I am passionate about inspiring other girls and women to find their space and selves through running.
If you would like to learn more about the principals of running, trail running, nutrition and some other random thoughts of mine, I share a lot of my ideas via the BLOG on this website. All information is free and I would love for it to be shared as wide as possible. Please pass it on to anyone who you think may benefit!
If you would like some guidance to work towards a big goal - whether it be running a certain distance, participating in a particular race or simply learning what your body can do through movement - I am trying my hand at one-on-one coaching. All of the information is listed on the COACHING page of this website.
If you would just like to reach out, I would love to hear from you. My email address is maddyrunstrail@gmail.com or DM me on Instagram @getitgirl_au
LET’S RUN!!
